Not California

Back from the other coast and the weather is, as expected, well... different.  Saw the sunrise in Baltimore, instead of Boston as planned, as the liitle snow here, is being amplified greatly in Boston with a foot or two of snow forecasted there.

Golden Gate

So after Chinatown (prior post) there was some time left to head out to the Presidio and and get some snaps of the Bridge, Alcatraz and Baker Beach.  Just a couple here, more to follow later in the week on SmugMug and when not sitting at SFO Gate A7.

Chinatown

A late morning meeting in the east bay and a red eye home, left time to drive in to park at the worlds cleanest garage, 555 California Street and take a walk trough Chinatown.  Posting just these two from Chinatown lots more to come later in the week.

Long in the tooth

I was on my way home from retrieving my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the dealers service department thinking it was getting long in the tooth with about 115k miles on it when I saw my neighbors delivery truck parked across the street from his house. It is a 1953 Chevy One Ton Panel truck and quite a big longer in the tooth than my Jeep. It is normaly in a nearby garage so this was a real treat --- so out came the camera.

The rest of the snaps are, as usual, here. All taken with the 5D Mk II with a 50mm f1.8 Mk I that is about half as old as the truck.

Druid Hill Park and nearby

Some shots of the park and along Jones Falls Road on a rainy Sunday morning.  Two snaps here, the rest are here.

Swim Lanes.  An image with a lot of sass compared to the stiff Tilt-Shift shots of the Botanical Gardens.

Liquor store delivery car on Jones Falls road.  Apparently originally acquired from the Cavasino Brothers in Cannes.

The Night before New Years

Some nighttime snaps --- a couple in DC and the rest from the south side of Baltimore Harbor in Locust Point. Abstracts from spinning the camera using the tripod collar.  All with the 5D Mk II.  The rest of the snaps can be found here.

Docked at Domino and Harbor East and the Inner harbor beyond, Tide Point in the foreground.

Brewers Hill abstracted.

Low contrast day over the Harbor

The hospital ship Sanctuary, berthed at Locust Point. (696mm (effective) at 1.41 miles)

Domino Sugar in the waning light of late afternoon. (696mm (effective) at 1.17 miles)

Home for holidays

So, the sharper eyed 20 and 30 somethings are home for the holidays.  No snow from the big East Coast Christmas storm but impressive skies.  Combine the skies with a thirty something (Tim) and a tripod mounted 7D with a 1.4 extender between the camera and the 100-400 at 400mm and you have a equivalent of 896mm to take some shots of Baltimore Harbor from Veranda #4.

Same situation from an earlier trip home on a rainy Sunday afternoon in late September.

Nonmemorial PDF available

A photo book about a day, just before Christmas, in DC, is now available in PDF format.  Titled Nonmemorial because it contains no pictures of the DC Memorials.  The pdf can be viewed here.
